I consider myself lucky to have been born just in time to watch “Doctor Who” from the beginning, being nearly five when it started late 1963! My favourite story is the Patrick Troughton serial “Fury from the Deep”. I am, also, exactly the right age to have grown up in tune with all the Gerry Anderson series of the Sixties and early Seventies!! My favourite is an episode of “UFO”, “The Psychobombs”. On hearing Roxy Music’s “Virginia Plain” for the first time, music, both Popular and Classical, became a predominant part of my life during the Seventies, so much so that I gained my BA in the subject, from Nottingham University, in the year in which “Ashes to Ashes” is set and my M.Mus in Composition from Goldsmiths, University of London, a few years later. Mahler’s “Symphony No. 2 in C minor - The Resurrection” is a favoured score while “Aladdin Sane” by David Bowie, originally released in the year in which “Life on Mars” is set, is probably my favourite rock album. Favourite single is Mott the Hoople’s “All the Young Dudes” while my all-time favourite pop song has to be “I am the Walrus” by The Beatles.
